How do I install my new blinds and shades?

Installation instructions for each blind will be included with your order, and are also available on our how to install page.  Each shade is different, so refer to the instructions for your specific product. Generally, mounting brackets are installed with screws that are included with your new blind, and then the blind clips into the brackets. For installation, you'll need a rechargeable drill with drill bits and a hex-head or Phillips-head drive bit, Phillips screwdriver, a pencil, and a tape measure.

We do not currently offer any measuring or installation services. We do provide clear, easy to follow installation instructions for each product that require only basic tools. You get significant savings when you measure and install yourself versus in-home decorating services!

How do I remove a blind from my window?

Accepted Answer

To remove your old blinds, or to take down your new blinds for adjustments or cleaning, you'll follow the reverse process for installation.  First, raise your blinds all the way to the top so that they are easier to handle once removed and so that you can easily access the mounting brackets. Next, unclip the blind from the mounting brackets. Each product is different so may need to refer to the installation manual for specifics. For horizontal blinds, there are usually box brackets on either end of the blind that flip open in the front to release the blind. Other styles of blinds like cellular shades have brackets that attach to the top and back of the shade – usually a flat head screwdriver can be used to release the headrail from the brackets so you can remove the shade. If needed, remove the mounting brackets with a screwdriver or rechargeable drill.
