Inside Mount
Let's make sure you have what you need!
- A metal tape measure
- Pen and paper to record all measurements
- Check if you have sufficient depth: Measure inside the window opening from the front to the back of the opening where the blind would mount. The depth you need will depend on the lift type you want. You must have a minimum depth of:
- 2" for a Continuous Cord Loop or Motorized Lift
- 1 ¾" for a Cordless Lift
- For a flush mount (fully recessed), you must have a minimum depth of:
- 2 ¼" for Continuous Cord Loop and Motorized Lift 58 x 58" and under
- 3 ½" for Continuous Cord Loop and Motorized Lift over 58 x 58"
- 2" for a Cordless Lift
- If your depth is not sufficient please see our outside mount instructions.
How to Measure:
Let's start with the Width:
- Inside of the window opening/frame measure from left to right at the top of the opening, the middle of the opening, and then the bottom of the opening. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the narrowest. If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8”. That is your ordering width.
Now, let's do the Height:
- Inside of the window opening/frame measure from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening/sill on the left-hand side, the middle, and on the right-hand side. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the tallest. That is your ordering height. Please note that when ordering Shades for the same room location heights need to match for the shade to have the same number of pleats.
Note: The factory will make the necessary deduction of approximately ¼" to your Width to account for movement in the window opening. No deductions will be made to your Height.
Outside Mount
Before you start measuring, decide whether you will mount on the window trim or above the window trim. Perhaps you are measuring for a door mount? We have instructions for that too! Please note that you must have 1 ½" of flat space to mount the bracket on the trim. If you do not have sufficient space, you will need to mount to the side of your trim or above your trim.
